Our independance and our existance came after long struggle for liberation; that means we Sacrificed our life and property to gain freedom. Evereyone has a good idea about the long way that somali people came through to declare independace from the brutal westren colonials. When you read Somali poems and listen their national songs, you will realize that Somali people are and will remain freedom lovers forever. Unfortunately, Somalia’s independance is again in jeorpardy, and our dignity is on its way to disappear. it seems that we are again divided and convinced to accept foreign stakeholders to decide for us. In addition, the continuence of foreign military involvement in Somalia is a bad signal that can hinder our peope from unity and successful collaborations.
Today, Kenyan troops are in our soil without having legitimacy to fight in Somalia. Our Parliaments did not let them come, and our president made clear statement that Kenya should not just cross to Somalia and do whatever they want. Also, we didn’t hear anything shows that kenya was greenlighted by the United Nations to fight in Somalia. So, who gave them permission to cross into our Territories?
Of course, There are many trouble makers in Somalia whose intention is to rule Somalia with their bad ideologies. Whoever uses force or our holy religion as an excuse to oppress our people shoud be stopped but not by another illegal forces who may want to take advantage of our failure.
As many Somalians do, I believe that Kenyan military activity in Somalia is nothing but invasion . Under international law, Kenyan troops in Somalia are invaders. Indeed, they are wrong and wrong to violate our sovereignty and territorial integrity. Furthermore, I believe that Kenyan government have a plan to make the situation in Somalia even worse. It was not that far when president, Danial Arab Moi said that kenya and Ethiopia never wanted Somalia to stand up on its feet.
It is clear that most of Somali people are in serious doubts about kenyan military activity in Jubaland of Somalia. Especially, when we see different proxy kenyan milias with different political agenda , we should have no doubts that Kenya will try to illegally annex Jubaland with its Territories or atleast claim one of our oil rich Islands in far south of Jubaland. In this case, there is no reason that we can trust kenyan government. Therefore, Kenya should keep their troops out of Somalia, or this will be historical mistake that can lead both countries into trouble.
In conclusion, President Sharif is right, and I hope he will stick on his decision aginst Kenyan invasion. Certainly, no one will build our houses that were distroyed by our hands. We should take these foreign military engagement in our land as a wake up call and restore peace and stability into our country. It is a time for us to have a vision. It is a time for us to forget the little things between us and build our nation together. We gained our independance by being united; and together, we can make even better future for our people.
