‘Warsame 101’ is Dead Wrong: Reer Sade is very Gracious. History, Please!

Now, in the quoted article, Warsame is dead wrong, grammatically incorrect, historically misguiding; not has done his homework at best, and gravely condescending. 

Barre Hiiraale and others that I don’t wat to  –out of respect— mention here, were single-handedly the sole cause of the humiliating defeat that Marehans faced in 1992. It was the same guy who, against the orders of General Mohamed Hashi Ghani, attacked the USC barracks in Afgoi. When he attacked the USC barracks, just like now and Bualle fiasco, Col. Barre was unprepared, unarmed, arrogant, and contemptuously defiant. 

Only because he was defied only to put the Marehans in peril, Gen. Ghani, a far more experienced General, knowing nothing else to do against the aggressive constable, he left the scene deeply disappointed. That was the time Warsame referred to as ‘Aideed time.’ 

It is very sad and at the same time very funny that Warsame puts it this way: “Barre Hiiraale, upon hearing this…” C’mon! This is the guy who caused the whole turmoil. Who is being kidded here? Barre Hiiraale, upon hearing this! I think Marehans deserve far better. Intelligence insult, indeed. 

Listen to this again: “Barre transferred power over to SNF.” I think people from Japan and Malta are lectured upon here, and Marehans including myself are the wrong audiences. I don’t have a stomach for this. 

Wait! “Barre Hiiraale, with a mere 40 men, arrived in Goobweyn with the aim to show Gen. Morgan and his allies the exact same path that the late Caydiid went through when he occupied Gedo and the two Jubbas.” Writes Warsame. 

In the above paragraph, the complete history of a Marehan Colonel, more educated and informed than Barre himself is willfully buried: The late Colonel Mohamed Jama’ Artan (Afgabdheedle). Again, very sad indeed; Warsame willfully ignored a Colonel who lost his life over the struggle for Kismayu and complains about others being forgetful. I can say the real shortsighted is Warsame and his ilk and not Marehans at large. I also rightly demand an apology here. 

As for the ICU and its support, wasn’t it Barre Hiiraale himself who had lent men and munitions to the ICU in May 2006? Wasn’t Barre himself who said “There is no need for Ethiopian troops in Somalia” while being the Minister for Defence of the TFG?  

Clearly, Barre Hiiraale guided by his own arrogance and idiocy, supported the ICU and Alshabab before the deal among them went sour in November, 2006. He again schmoozed and supported them in Kismayu to the last minute. Remember what he said on VOA on August 7^th 2008. 

Finally, Mr “Warsame” you are NOT in a position to advise Gedoans. These people have their own wise men, their own intellectuals, their own military tacticians, and their own everything.   

Please get your homework done and advice your cousin, Barre Shire Warsame and tell him:  “As you can not eat your cake and have it, support either of the two powers that are vying for power in Somalia since you long failed to become or create one.”
