Hyenas Kill 2 in the Gedo region
of Somalia
By Aden Olujog
Bura, Somalia (AOL)
-
In what seems to be an unusual
behavior of Hyenas, people of
South western region of Somalia
(Gedo) are being confronted
these days with unexpected hyena
attacks.
In a
telephone interview made by
Allgedo Online, Mohamed Abdi,
one of the officials of the Luq
District, stated that 2 persons
were killed and ate by Hyenas in
an area close to Bura.
Bura is a
small village, that situates 60
kilometers south of Garbaharey
and East of El-adde districts.
This unprecedented hyena attacks
came after the region has been hit
hardly by severe droughts and
other killer diseases such
as cholera and waterborne.
"This kind of Hyena attacks show
the maximum level of frustration
of the people of Gedo and how
the situation of this region is
getting worse", said Abdi.
Usually, even though hyenas are predators and
scavengers, the spotted Hyenas
are more commonly considered as
vicious famous predator -which
could attack, kill and eat
humans.
Yet, there are no other similar incidents,
fatalities or wounds of hyena
attacks reported in any other
part of Gedo region.
